Installation instructions
Before installation
Please take the time to read the instructions for installation and use of the product.
Before installation and before each use, check that the product is undamaged and has all components. If the product is damaged in such a way that the load capacity is compromised, do not use it. Also, do not use it if you do not have a mounting ring. Contact Restander for spare parts and technical advice. We do not assume responsibility for damage caused by improper use and installation. Installation of the Restander prerequires basic technical knowledge and skills.
For proper operation, the Restander must be installed in the correct place, in the correct base and at the correct height. Please note that the stability of the Restander depends on the quality of the installation and above all on the size and weight of the foundation. The terrain must have a bearing capacity that is suitable for the installation of a point concrete foundation.
Think carefully about where you will place the shade so that you have shade where you need it. Since the installation of the Restander involves concreting, any subsequent relocation is challenging. Dry and level terrain is suitable for installation.
Think about the height at which the top plate of the anchor should be. Most often, we want it to be aligned with the surroundings (greenery, pressure, asphalt, tiles). We recommend that the upper edge of the anchor is 3–5 mm higher than the surrounding level.
Possible installation methods
Several installation methods are possible. Here are some of the most common examples:
- Restander built into a concrete foundation, which has a minimum height, and filled with soil up to the upper plate of the anchor.
- Restander built into a concrete foundation that has a minimum diameter and height to the mark on the anchor.
- Restander embedded in a concrete foundation, and surrounded by concrete, paving stones, stones, or ceramic tiles.
Installation
- Site preparation: Before starting the installation, choose wisely a suitable place to install the Restander. Ensure that the ground is suitable for installing the point foundation.
- Digging a hole: Dig a hole with a diameter of at least 40 cm and a depth of ~45 cm in the selected place. Make sure the floor is level.
- Preparation of the base: Level the bottom and add sand to a height of about 10 cm. The sand facilitates the installation and allows the drainage of storm water.
- Installing the anchor: Place the anchor in the middle of the hole. Adjust it with light taps and a spirit level so the top plate is horizontal and at the desired height.
- Supporting the anchor: Carefully support the anchor with stones to ensure a stable position. Check the position several times.
- Preparation of concrete: Mix the concrete mixture with water to achieve a suitable consistency. Carefully fill the hole with concrete so as not to dislodge the anchor. Pour concrete at least up to the height of the widest part of the anchor. If the diameter of the hole is minimal (40 cm), embed concrete at least up to the height of the protrusions on the upper part of the anchor. You can fill the anchor with concrete up to the top plate if you wish. We recommend installing at least two 25 kg bags of concrete mix.
- Curing of concrete: Concrete is cured for at least 24 hours.
- Completion of installation: When the concrete hardens, you can finish the upper part of the backfill. Installing drainage material near the top plate is recommended to protect the anchor from moisture. Alternatively, you can lay cobblestones or ceramic tiles on top.
